Attorney Frans Wiete (“Vita”) ter Haar is dedicated to helping people plan for the future, ease the burden of family members left behind, and protect their assets through the use of proper estate planning tools.
Mr. ter Haar is an entertaining and informative public speaker and educator. He gives regular public and private seminars on the importance and benefits of effective estate planning. He has also written about estate planning topics as a columnist for local publications.
EXPERIENCE Mr. ter Haar has practiced law in the Sacramento area since 1991, initially with a large Sacramento law firm and later at his own law office. His practice is focused on estate planning, including wills and trusts.
EDUCATION Wiete, a native of the Netherlands, came to the United States, after meeting and marrying his American wife, Ann, in Europe. He graduated cum laude with two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Humboldt State University, and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of California at Davis. He was invited to join the honor societies of Phi Kappa Phi and Pi Gamma Mu. He is fluent in four languages. PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIPS Wiete is a member of the Estate Planning sections of the State Bar of California, the Sacramento County Bar Association and the American Bar Association; the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, and ARAG. COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES Wiete is active in the community as soccer coach, and a member of several community committees, including the Davis Senior Citizens Commission.
PERSONAL Wiete is married and has four children, all of whom play soccer.
